All snapshots will be exposed in the art gallery and the event will be animated by dj Bael Jonson.

On Tuesday 20th May at 21.30 pm CET/ 12.30 am SLT noWomannoLife island will host a magic event dedicated to all adults who wish to be surprised and discover their childish nature.

The Art 4 Life gallery will expose the original drawings realized by Rosy Gadda Conti, children's book illustrator, taken from the book "Le bugie hanno le gambe corte".

Rosy Gadda Conti, special guest of the event, will explain how fables are created and how they convey good values and positive messages. The event is part of a seed learn's project that supports children who live in difficult areas.

Martedì 20 maggio alle ore 21.30 l’isola di noWomannoLife offrirà un’opportunità unica a tutti gli adulti che desiderano ancora sorprendersi e riscoprire il bambino che è in loro.

Nella galleria di Art 4 Life (nowomannolife 73/180/25) verranno infatti esposte le tavole originali dell’illustratrice Rosy Gadda Conti, tratte dal libro “Le bugie hanno le gambe corte” (edizione La Margherita, Milano).

Rosy Gadda Conti, ospite dell’isola, spiegherà ai partecipanti come, partendo da un’idea e approdando all’illustrazione, sia possibile veicolare messaggi e valori positivi. L’evento non sarà solo un modo per scoprire da “dietro le quinte” come nasce una favola, ma rappresenterà anche un’occasione per fare del bene. Questo incontro, insieme con altre iniziative in RL, fa parte di un progetto-pilota, sviluppato da seed learn, a favore di bambini che vivono in ambienti disagiati.

This month noWomannoLife's island is full of events and we have to thank all participants who are taking part in our initiatives! On Tuesday 15th April we had a nice talk with Alice Mastroianni, who discussed with her audience the results of the project Save the Children in SL. The project needs your help: you can actually install a Yak's House in your land or making a donation, supporting the ong Save the Children. Moreover (thank you Rubin!), we discovered a new fundraising instrument in SL: the hudbook. You can actually wear this object on your avatar's head and surf in Internet without leaving SL. This is very helpful for non profits who wish to make people aware of their projects: the object can be actually transfered to other avatars and updated with events and news. Thanks again to all participants!

Air is thin and invisible, but it could be represented by art. Have you ever thought how to catch this invisible element on canvas? On the 18th of March at 21.30 pm - 12.30 am SLT the Art 4 Life gallery on noWomannoLife's island (73/180/25) will host a unique event: you will be able to admire wonderful paintings realized by contemporary authors such as Christo, Griffa, Sam Francis, Shiraga, Kusama, and to understand how they enclosed air transparency on canvas. Visitors will be guided by art critic Sav Rodenberger (Saverio Repetto). Virtual paintings can be purchased in Second Life, while real paintings are available at De Primi's gallery, in Lugano, Switzerland. The entire amount of money will be donated to noWomannoLife.

WWF in Second Life: Conservation Island

Conservation Island is WWF's home in Second Life. There, you can meet Mr Tangee, an orangutan who runs an ice cream van: he will teach you how the plantations that produce the palm oil that you can find in your everyday life (from ice cream to cosmetics) are threatening his forest home. Visit and explore the ancient forest, swim among the coral reefs, meet different animals and befriend a panda, who will keep you updated with latest environmental news.

Red Cross: not everyone can take refugee in Second Life

SL is an important tool for non profit organizations which intend to share their work with other people. This time we decided to explore the Danish Red Cross' island in SL.

The island is divided into four different scenarios:

Conflict and war island (visitors walk through a refugee camp full of land mines that explose and send avatars into the air)
Tsunami zone (visitors can experience a Tsunami and the effects that follow this calamity)
Earthquake island (visitors are suddenly surprised by an earthquake)
"What we do island" (visitors can learn what Red Cross does)

Once again SL provides an immersive virtual experience with an eye to real life: the island actually provides slides and pictures displaying Darfur's conflict and 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. However, after the troubling experience, you can relax having a coffee at Red Cross Café, camping or playing volley-ball, hopely without forgetting what you have seen before.

SL è uno strumento importante per le organizzazioni no profit che intendono condividere con gli altri il proprio lavoro. Quest'oggi abbiamo deciso di visitare l'isola della Croce Rossa Danese .

L'isola è divisa in quattro diversi scenari:

Second Chance Trees is a project that makes SL residents aware about the problem of endangered trees. The island reproduces a rainforest scenario, with real tree and flower species. Residents learn how to recognize different plants through the exploration of caves, rivers and other scenarios, and are informed of deforestation risks.

With 300 Linden Dollars (1 US Dollar) visitors can also buy a virtual tree: the same plant will be planted in real world, allowing risky regions such as Costa Rica, Brezil and others, to see their rainforests repopulated.

Second Chance Trees è un progetto che invita i residenti di SL a prendere coscienza del problema degli alberi in via di estinzione. Sull'isola lo scenario riproduce la vegetazione di una foresta pluviale, replicando specie di alberi e fiori realmente esistenti. I residenti imparano a conoscere le diverse piante, attraverso l'esplorazione di caverne, fiumi e altri scenari, e vengono informati sul problema della deforestazione.

On the 13th of December the opening of Art for Life took place in noWomannoLife's island. Several guests took part in the event: Sav Rodenberger (Saverio Repetto), member of De Primi art gallery who introduced paintings and related authors to the public, CarloMaria Creber (Marco Calmes) and Annaloga Boucher (Saskia Calmes), founders of noWomannoLife foundation, Seed Lane (Luca Botturi) and Seed Clip (Isabella Rega), founders of the ngo seed.

Residents who came to the event were attracted by the initiative, which reached a good success, and which displayed the constant growth of residents' interest in the non profit field.

The main goal of the art gallery is actually to collect money that will be entirely devolved to noWomannoLife and to Mediterranean women.

A big thanks goes to the organizators, but especially to all visitors who joined the event and who stayed for the island tour, which took place after the event. The future has in store new events of this type so..look out! Now enjoy Art for Life 's gallery and the snapshots of the event!

Giovedì 13 dicembre si è svolta l'inaugurazione della galleria d'arte Art for Life sull'isola di noWomannoLife. The island noWomannoLife/73/180/25/ will provide a suggestive scenery for the event, giving residents the opportunity to see a collection of existing paintings, made by important artists such as Schneider, Ruggeri and Romiti. Mabawa at Sikania Island

Anubis, a famous stylist in SL, supports Mabawa Projects, creating a stand in Sikania Island dedicated to Mabawa NGO. The stand is full of pictures of Mabawa projects, there is the possibility to support Mabawa projects and to visit SL Mabawa headquarter at noWomannoLife Island.

A suggestion: enjoy also the rest of Sikania island, the SL taste of Sicily!

Opening party

Last Thursday took place the opening party of noWomannoLife Island. During the event we met interesting people such as Xharpo Otterson, a SL artist, who told us about the Monastery of Felix Meritis in SL where it is possible to buy monk clothes to sustain the RL monks. Nick Wallaby was also there, dancing at the Beduin Camp and chatting with Leonora Giove, who gave as present to all participants a Mabawa chicken to be placed on the shoulder. Also some AECT members came to visit the island with Seed Lane.
As always almost everyone bought a chicken to support Mabawa projects and a Souk artifact to support noWomannoLife projects. Thank you to all of them!

MacArthur Foundation: Virtual World Event on philanthropy on June 22nd

On June 22nd at 9:00 AM PST, Jonathan's avatar along with Second Life CEO Philip Rosedale will lead a discussion with residents on the role of philanthropy in virtual worlds.

I believe that the importance of virtual worlds may be less about their growth as economies, and more about their capacity for collaboration and human development. Activities in virtual worldsalready are supported by MacArthur and other foundations, but we have much to discover about the right role for philanthropy itself in virtual worlds.

We are interested in learning about virtual worlds and how to operate within them. We look to the residents to help us determine how to be helpful and are eager to share our on-going work in such areas as affordable housing, urban renewal, and human rights and international justice.

The Education Centre is built to host events, conferences and training sessions organized by NoWomannoLife and the other non profit organizations active in the island and in SL.
